Disaster Relief Program
You can make a difference in your community
When disaster strikes, we respond.
When natural disasters and emergencies occur, Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley has a team ready to respond to both immediate and long-term needs of those impacted in our community. Our goal is to provide not only a direct response but also ongoing support. This includes providing assistance to reconstruct damaged homes and or provide temporary shelter.
What we provide:
Disaster Relief
Our relief efforts are dedicated to addressing individuals’ emergency needs immediately following a disaster. To do this we collaborate with first-line responders like the Salvation Army, American Red Cross, and Emergency Management.
Disaster Recovery
Our case managers help individuals affected by disasters create and execute a comprehensive Disaster Recovery Plan. They complete needs assessments for long-term case management assistance to victims from a disaster. They also connect them with community resources. Our services include response coordination and both short-term and long-term recovery support for individuals and families impacted by natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods, and other catastrophes.
Disaster Preparation
Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley collaborates year-round with community organizations, partners, and government entities to ensure a coordinated response in the event of a disaster. These organizations provide valuable information and resources to help the community with disaster preparation and mitigation efforts.
